Lana's Story <3 She was a once in a lifetime dog, she was playful, SMART, protective, wonderful and lived her life to the fullest every. single. day. We can learn so much from her perseverance. Lana was a rescue from Facebook in 2015, she came to me tiny, under weight, with a thin coat and full of tape worms... I bought her so many sweaters and little coats to try and help house train her as she came home in February. I had to keep her warm outside. She overcame her tiny stature and grew so quickly into a strong, beautiful dog who played until she just couldn't take another step. Her favorite shows were shark week, and she disliked TV shows with people who had a really thick accents.... HAHA In the years to come she was the best girl she could be. Then I bought my first house, with property. She became the best farm dog.. This was her identity and she loved running the field, chasing balls, sticks and the biggest logs she could take from the fire pit and chew them into tooth picks. Protecting us from the mailman, and chaperoning all horse activities, and bon fires. I can't forget how much loved antagonizing geese. She was diagnosed with Dilated Cardio Myopathy (an enlarged misshapen heart) this past year fall of 2023, the first vet tried bullying us into putting her down that day. I refused. She had so much life, no way I was giving up on her. I went through every avenue including Cornell and multiple specialists. Did that slow her down? Not a chance, the vets couldn't believe she was running with her heart in the state that it was. After the diagnosis we realized that we have to plan for the future in case anything ever did happen to her, her great dane sister Molly could not handle being alone even for Lanas trips to the Dr... So what seemed to happen instantly I was tagged in a shelter dog that needed rescue. I never planned on having a third dog. A quick meet and greet the next day and he (Sterling) became a part of the family. Lana was already saving lives, and she was still happily here with us loving every day with her new goofy little brother and her favorite great dane sister. Fast forward from Fall of 23 to August of 24. Saturday morning, like any other. Lana was playing with her ball and getting belly scratches, happy as can be one second, and gone the next. It was absolutely heart breaking, and horrifying the only thing we can assume happened was she had a fatal heart attack. Thank god it was lightening fast and she didn't suffer. Lana was amazing and we miss her terribly... BCE is donating a percentage of each sale to help dogs in need, whether it be medical research or donating to the shelter. I feel like this is a beautiful way to honor Lana, and help bring about a positive situation from something that has so broken our family. All three dogs mentioned here are used above as collar models to put a face to their names. These pictures are from the initial order testing the design.
Lana's Legacy can live on with your help.
